2006 Scholarship Questionnaire results
Recently a questionnaire regarding our future methods of dispersing scholarships was put forth on the website and at the Spring Meeting. It included 7 yes or no questions covering many of the concerns expressed by members after the methods used to sort the many applicants for this year. Below is a summary of the answers we received to these questions. We had 63 total respondents to the survey, which is about 1/5 of Society’s members. This makes for a good sampling of opinions. Please take a moment to review the data.

Penobscot-Hancock Chapter - Excom Discussion
Meeting at: Seadog Brewing Company Kenduskeag Room 26 Front Street, Bangor

In response to our invitation, several Executive Committee (Excom) members have offered to take the time to come speak with the Chapter about current MSLS goals and to describe to us what Excom is (and is not).

This is an opportunity to voice your opinions and concerns about MSLS to several of the key volunteer leaders. They are interested in listening to your comments, concerns and questions. (A summarized list of your comments, “what works, what doesn’t” from our last Chapter meeting accompany this announcement to help generate conversation.)

The latter part of the meeting is intended to be an open discussion. Participation by all is encouraged. Please come with an open mind and constructive suggestions on how we can work together to strengthen the future of the Society.

MSLS NOTICE - Secretary needed
MSLS is in need of a new executive secretary. After many years Kevin Farrar has stated that he will not continue in this capacity at the conclusion of his term in February 2006. Many thanks go to Kevin for his years of service as secretary. The position of secretary is an officers position within MSLS and the person sits on the executive committee which meets once every month, plus the annual, spring and fall meetings. This is a very important position within MSLS as the minutes of meetings need to get out to the members and the position of officer in the society is of utmost importance for guidance and leadership to MSLS members. A stipend is included with the position along with other minor benefits. We really need someone to step up to the plate and help the society, please forward your name to Past President Andrew Sturgeon at asturgeon@amesae.com
